TOK - Art (RLS)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/My_Bed Tracey Emin's artwork "My Bed" is a widely known controversial artwork. "My Bed" is Tracey's actual bed which is untidy with wrinkled sheets and socks on the mattress. Around the bed is a clutter of personal belongings, such as an empty Vodka bottle, underwear, socks, cigarette packets and various belongings and objects. This bed represented a very depressing and hard phase that Tracey has gone through in the late 1990's. This art is famous, and although it has won zero prizes, it still has a notoriety which was persisted. I believe what made this art so famous because it was unique, it related to Tracey's heartbroken phase, and it is something many could relate to, this is why maybe Tracey's artwork is considered art.  Knowledge questions -  To what extent should artwork be considered art? To what extent could a person relate to an artwork?

TOK - The Cannon-Bard Theory

Phillip Brad and Walter Cannon proposed their own theory in an argument and in refutation of the James-Lange theory in the late 1920's. The James-Lange which was introduced by a psychologist named Carl Lange and William James in the mid-nineteenth century. And their theory proposes that our emotions are caused by our own interpretation of bodily reactions. Meanwhile, Brad and Cannon's theory is the "Cannon-Bard Theory of Emotion" - which is only has a fewer supporting or believing this method; this theory suggests that after a stimulus event takes place, the humans react to it by having to experience arousal and emotion at the same time. An example of a Cannon-Bard Theory is let us say a man sees a dangerous hungry tiger, the man would feel afraid and his muscles would get tensed at the same time, which would help him ready to avoid or possibly run away from the tiger. Like one can observe the persons emotion based on the phycological signals that his body displ...

TOK - Ethical Limitations on Science

When it comes to science experiments, there should be ethical norms, and most people would agree with that, for example, if a science experiment has zero harm towards the patients whether they are humans or even animals. But when it comes to religion, political views,  sense of reasoning and memory, things could change on what is seen as ethical. Therefore, most science experiments today and back then as well, are seen as being unethical because of the disagreements when it comes to religion and political views. But the FDA is trying to be fair when it comes to their experiments and tries to respect the public with their views towards on what's ethical and unethical in science experiments. An RLS occured with the “Harlow’s Monkey Experiment”, this experiment was viewed as unethical due to reasoning and personal views; This experiment works by placing Monkey infants away from their mothers for a time of six to twelve hours after their birth and instead raised with a “substitute” m...
