Theory Of Knowledge

What does the metaphor of the map mean to me? How might this be helpful for us in this course?

We are all unique, just like everybody else. The world is a big place and the plant Earth is rich and filled with good views and adventures. For many years the maps of our world have changed, the first map ever presented to us was published in 6 BC when a Greek scientist named Anaximander drew a map of the world believing back then that the Earth is Cylindrical, over centuries the map of the world has been constantly been changing and today we are left to believe that today's map is very legit. But how do we know it's the true map? Some disagree and some agree but that gives us a good discussion  for this course so we can question each others perspective and ask on why do they disagree with today's map or why they agree with it. This is enlighten us with more information.

What other maps (Concepts) from your life can you now question the certainty of? Does this mean they are less helpful?

We learnt that the maps are wrong because for example, Greenland and the United States of America look slightly larger than the whole contient of Africa, when that is a false because from my research and what I learnt from my TOK class that Africa is large, like very large and it could fit most european countries, the whole of India, China and the USA, but on the map of the world we see that these countries look slightly larger or smaller which is somehow false. But what we can say is that it is impossible to put the sphere world map on a flat land design, due to this the worlds maps have been changing constantly and we will never really figure out the right world map.
