Print Ad - Analysis
This advertisement is from Giorgio Armani, and this ad mainly focuses on their product which is the cologne "Armani Code." Straight up from this ad, we can easily see a model man and woman in a very close relationship, showing affection, intimacy and perhaps using this product could help support the idea of seduction as the slogan suggests (The Code of Seduction For Men), and this could perhaps help boost the sales and attraction to this product, it would grab a lot of male attention and as well for women as they might inspire and convince their romantic partner to purchase this product. This advertisement is trying to tell its viewers (Men) that with this product, they would be able to attract women using this product and may look and get lucky as the male model shown in the ad as he is very close to this female model. The ad also shows a bit of gender roles/stereotypes as the man is shown as the dominant gender, we can see because the female model is shown giving love, physical contact and affection with the man meanwhile the man is showing zero attention but more looking away and having a smirk and a look on his face based off his facial expression, hence showing the women is shown as an object. The texture/quality of this ad portrays a very intense tone and mood to the viewers, and that is shown on how the ad looks like, it has a classical "Godfather", "Great Gatsby" tone which makes it very luxurious, professional and classy looking as well which would attract attention, which is the purpose of the advertisement and the product being advertised too. The ad is taken from a very up close and outside perspective showing the models in a close-up picture but having little engagement for the audience to feel like they are involved with the ad. This advertisement has no borders. Overall, our knowledge that comes from our sense of memory and reasoning helps us understand this ad and its approach to various cultures and the message that it is trying to send.
