TFA - Introductory Paragraph Practice
The personal history of an author can have a significant influence on the way meaning is constructed in his/her writing. Comment on specific instances of such influence in Things Fall Apart.
In China Achebe’s famous African literature novel “Things Fall Apart”; he self-expresses his own personal Igbo and Christian identity - This has strongly impacted and has shaped the context of the story of TFA.
Things Fall Apart gives its readers both subjective viewpoints of the local Igbo and Christian customs and beliefs, and Achebe has done that by demonstrating both flaws and strengths of both the Igbos and Christians. Achebe’s story is revolved its main character, Okonkwo. An Igbo who was not flexible in the change that Umofia was going to face - Okonkwo is a man who refuses change.
This perhaps is imagery portrayed by Achebe to show that maybe the Igbos and Colonizers/Missionaries never precisely got along.
